I’ve lived in the East Bay for nearly 30 years, raised two children here, and recently retired from a career in management consulting and information technology for retailers. For much of that time, I’ve commuted through Walnut Creek into San Francisco, passing the growing ranks of the unhoused in both those cities, and asked how I could be part of the solution. That led me earlier to the Board of a services provider in SF and more recently to Trinity Center, where I see many of the unhoused turn for help in Walnut Creek. As a member of a church located in Civic Park, downtown Walnut Creek, and an active volunteer at Trinity Center, I have gotten to know individuals experiencing homelessness and heard their powerful stories – reminding me of the profound truth behind the adage “There but by the grace of God, go I”.
